Why would you want to use 32 x 32 baseplate, or a 48 x 48 baseplate, or even a 32 x 48 baseplate for long modulars?
Now you can make your modular have any footprint you want. You would have a longer building time, a bigger number of pieces (bigger price per piece, if you are one of those people) and a smaller volume of plastic (more ecological). Everyone is happy.
