Hristo Botev (1848–1876) was a Bulgarian poet, revolutionary, and national hero. He is considered one of Bulgaria’s greatest poets, known for his powerful, emotional verses about freedom, sacrifice, and social justice. Botev was also an active revolutionary who fought against Ottoman rule and died in battle for Bulgaria’s liberation.
