Piggybank!

The Piggybank. I'd be hideously surprised if ALL of us, at some point, haven't owned one of these little cash-repositories, and when I were a lad, parents often would buy their children a piggybank to keep their change in so they could learn to handle money. Often they were made of china or porcelain, and the lack of any way to get the money back OUT again undoubtedly led to many, many sadly smashed piggies all around the world.

Useless information for the day: The earliest recorded piggybank actually came from the island of Java in the 12th century, but the term 'piggy bank' was not officially coined (if you'll excuse the pun) until 1913. However, the popular form of the piggybank is actually of German origin, where pigs were seen as a symbol of wealth and good fortune.

This piggy bank is, ironically, one of my oldest designs. I actually first made it around ten years ago, when I was still really getting to grips with CAD and I was still using my first ever 3d printer. As such, I never actually got around to printing it, since it would have taken around three days straight to print it, and then it would only have been in one colour. No one would be interested in that, I thought. But then, recently, with the relaunch of my business came a vastly more advanced printer with the ability to print in multiple colours at once. It was time, I decided, that Piggy finally saw the light of day. He/she still takes over 21 hours to print, then over an hour and a half to remove the supports and clean the model up, but finally, the cuteness can be released into the world! He's designed so his bum fits back on a little loosely, so I'd recommend supergluing a strip of foam rubber around the rim to make sure it stays in tightly.

You can print him in different colours if you prefer, if you'd like your piggybank to be a different shade then the model is easily colourable in your choice of slicing software
